When she joined Vietnam International Bank, the retail banking division was a modest contributor. Under her leadership, just in 3 years it became the bank’s core growth engine — contributing over 80% of total profits, managing nearly 90% of the loan book, leading more than 90% of the workforce, and serving 99% of its customer base.
Today, VIB Retail Banking is the 4th largest retail banking operation among Vietnamese private joint stock commercial banks. Huong’s business is an industry leader in Vietnam in a number of areas including bancassurance market share (#1), credit card growth (#3), auto loan market share (#1), and profit CAGR growth (#1; 63% CAGR over the past 5 years, compared with the industry average of 30%). In 2022, Forbes named VIB one of the top 50 best public companies in Vietnam.
With an early academic foundation in Mathematics, Huong went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hanoi Foreign Trade University, followed by an MBA in Finance & Accounting from Fordham University. She further expanded her expertise through Executive Education programs in Digital Transformation and Venture Capital at Harvard Business School and Wharton Business School.
Through all her achievements, she came to understand the human cost of hypergrowth — the pressure, the burnout, the loss of alignment. That insight led her to found 6igma Ventures – an early-stage venture capital firm backing bold founders in fintech, retail platforms, and applied AI, focusing on reshaping how people live, transact, and grow.
